Shared hosting is a sensible starting point for many business websites because the provider manages a common platform. A virtual server becomes relevant when measured resource, software or administrative requirements no longer fit that shared environment.

Do not migrate on traffic alone

A well-cached site can handle substantial traffic on suitable business web hosting. Investigate slow themes, plugins, database queries and external scripts before assuming a larger server is the answer.

Signs a virtual server may help

  • Consistent CPU, memory or process-limit pressure.
  • A required runtime or service unavailable on shared hosting.
